| Program Description &
Background
Junior Giving is a philanthropic
and social investment program designed to afford 8th graders a rich and
rewarding opportunity to learn about the process of philanthropy and the
vast numbers of community organizations which can benefit from charitable
contributions. This program promotes the development of meaningful
relationships between middle schools, individual 8th grade classes that
will be involved and their philanthropic partners in the community. |
 |
A charitable contribution
of $1,000 for each middle school involved will be set aside for the chosen
classes to donate to a single charitable organization on behalf of their
class and the corporate sponsors who participate in this program.
Scholarly Pursuits manages the entire program which allows the corporate
sponsor to obtain most of the media coverage that will occur from this
program. The schools, students and local non-profit organizations
all benefit in many ways from the long term “difference” that this will
make in many children’s lives.
The children involved
in the Junior Giving programs will learn many things to include:
-
Communications skills
-
Organization skills
-
“Investigation” skills
-
Local non-profit organization

-
Many family and community

-
Civic responsibility
......and other “learning

The Junior Giving program
is currently being operated in Virginia, Alabama, Ohio and California.
Scholarly Pursuits is extremely
excited about working with new corporate sponsors to implement this program
in many new areas of the country. The hope and intent of Scholarly
Pursuits is that this will become a long term/annual program.
